Information regarding electrical and electronic equipment

The following information is intended for private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please observe these important instructions in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of old equipment and for your own safety.

Instructions on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol according to Annex 3 to the ElektroG (German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act):

Owners of old equipment must dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Electrical and electronic waste must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, must not be placed in household waste. Instead, such old equipment must be collected separately and disposed of, for example, via local collection and return systems.

Owners of old equipment must also remove used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old equipment before handing it over at a collection point.

The latter does not apply if the old equipment is separated from other old equipment by public waste management authorities as part of their opting-out procedure pursuant to Section 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG for the purpose of preparing it for reuse.

The symbol according to Annex 3 to the ElektroG allows owners to identify old equipment that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment is a crossed-out wheeled bin and is designed as follows:

Instructions on the options for returning old equipment:

Owners of old equipment can hand it in at the return or collection facilities set up and made available by public waste management authorities to ensure proper disposal of the old equipment. It may also be possible to hand in electrical and electronic equipment there for the purpose of reusing the devices.

Note on data protection

Old equipment to be disposed of sometimes contains sensitive personal data (e.g., on a PC or smartphone) that should not fall into the hands of third parties. We expressly point out that end-users of old equipment are responsible for deleting personal data from the old equipment to be disposed of.
